Global Recruitment Trends
According to the latest findings of the Monster Local Employment Index, online job availability increased in all 28 top U.S. metropolitan areas in February, as recruitment activity in more than half of the major U.S. metro areas tracked jumped significantly. During the past month, all 28 markets tracked by the Index saw a moderate-to-dramatic rise in online job demand.

Nearly half of major firms in Japan surveyed plan to increase the number of employees they recruit fresh out of school in the spring of 2007 from the level planned for this spring, according to a Kyodo News survey.

Almost 20% of UK employers have recruited more staff in the first quarter of 2006, according to results from the latest Manpower Employment Outlook Survey. About three-quarters (71%) of the 2,100 UK employers surveyed said there was no change in their hiring intentions and 9% were planning to reduce their workforce. Job prospects in London and the North East were the most buoyant with 29% of London businesses and 35% of companies in the North East taking on more staff.

According to the Recruiters Confidence Index (RCI),a monthly survey of executive recruiters conducted by ExecuNet, an executive job search and recruiting network, 76% are confident or very confident that the executive employment market will improve during the next six months down slightly from a thirteen-month high of 79% in January. During this period of time, the search industry is expecting a 27% increase in the number of assignments received from corporate clients.
